Lachs mit Schlitzaugen und Nudeln durch die Ohren – in ihrem Langzeitprojekt „Asia Bistro – Made in Rice“ untersucht Hien Hoang das Zusammenspiel von Essen, Identität und Klischees gegenüber der Asiatischen Kultur im Westen. Durch die Kombination von Fotografie, Performance und Installation will sie stereotype Vorstellungen provozieren und Gegenbilder schaffen.
In der Installation Asia Bistro: Made in Rice, Soya and slit eyes, die speziell für diese Ausstellung konzipiert wurde, hat Hien Hoang verschiedene Bühnen aufgebaut, die dem Publikum eine offene Erfahrung bieten.

Salmon with slit eyes and noodles twisted through the ears – in her long-term project „Asia Bistro – Made in Rice“ Hien Hoang examined the interplay of food, identity and cliches against the Asian culture in the West. By combining photography with performance and installation, she aims to provoke stereotypical notions and to create counter-images.
In the installation Asia Bistro: Made in Rice, Soya and slit eyes, which was conceived specifically for this exhibition, Hien Hoang has built various stages that provide an open experience for the audience.
